Bottom up planning in 22@ allows for the adaptability to local culture, resolving issues from top-down planning, creating a community to serve its residents.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, 22a was a declining industrialized city and in a dire need of revitalization. The empty factories and chimneys left behind a long productive and industrial tradition, with the technological advances of the ICT revolution of the 1990s, 22@ began to bridge the “ICT revolution” to the industrialized 22a, creating a new identity.
The 10-10-10-Historic Preservation is a bottom up strategy: preserving iconic landmarks like chimney stacks and industrial buildings, required 10% of land use to be green zones, public amenities and social housing which created an urban complexity and flexibility.
